Top of Mind (Q2 2016)

Each quarter, we will share three things that we are keeping Top of Mind

Here's our latest list:

1.) Listen Up

I have been doing a lot of walking in my local park during these summer months and in order to make even better use of that time, I have become a huge fan of podcasts.  There are countless to choose from but a few of my current must-plays: include: TED Radio Hour, Tim Ferriss show, Freakanomics Radio, This American Life, and Serial.  Do you listen to podcasts, and if so, which ones?

2.) Mortgage Refi Boom

Interest rates around the world continue their downward movement, with rates in several foreign countries reaching negative territory.  With recent events in Europe and Britain, the safety trade has continued and rates in the US are approaching record lows. As rates fall, the demand for mortgage refinancings skyrocket. With rates likely to rebound at some point, it is a good idea to evaluate your current mortgage and assess whether refinancing makes sense.  Proceed with caution and carefully evaluate refi costs, rate differentials, how long you plan to be in your home, changes in appraised value, and other factors - but bottom line, the work could be worth significant savings.  Unsure of how to proceed?  Contact us, we'll help

           3.) Presidential Election

After witnessing the historic political events in Britan, it's easy for attention to turn back home and our upcoming election.  As we enter convention season, things are bound to get increasingly contentious and interesting.   There are many implications for the country and each of us depending upon who ultimately takes office.  One area of particular interest to many is income taxes.  This publication from Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren sc outlines the vast differences between the candidates' tax plans.  Time will tell which candidate (and which tax plan) will prevail
